Climate and Energy

Due to Stuttgart’s basin topography, climate issues are of great importance. In an effort to balance cold airflows, development and the quality of open spaces, it must be possible to have cooling and an exchange of air in the neighbourhood. By applying the sponge city principle the natural water cycle is to be promoted and a maximum reduction of inland sealing achieved. The biodiversity of flora and fauna is to be protected and the coexistence of humans and animals fostered. In addition, the new Stuttgart Rosenstein should also be given a sustainable and future-oriented energy concept with the aim of becoming a plus-energy quarter. This means that more energy will be generated from renewable sources in the neighbourhood than is consumed. The details can be had in the maps on the following pages.
